Emergency Shelter - Brookings CORE Response

Emergency Shelter

Transitional Shelter

Pineview Cottage is a 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom transitional shelter in Brookings, providing a safe and supportive environment for women and children experiencing homelessness. The program offers stability for up to six months, with the possibility of an extension to one year, helping residents work toward permanent housing and self-sufficiency. As part of Brookings CORE Response’s trauma-informed, peer-led approach, Pineview Cottage offers individualized case management, peer support, and resource navigation to help families rebuild their lives. Residents agree to a behavior-based housing agreement focused on safety and community, ensuring a respectful and supportive living space.

Warming Center

A Warming Center, also known as a severe weather warming center, is a type of temporary, as-needed shelter for people living outside during periods of time where the weather is predicted to show certain conditions. These conditions are usually set by local government authorities and services are carried out by local Community Based Organizations, such as a Nonprofit Organization. While there are currently no established plans within each of the three municipalities in Curry County, or at the county level itself, there is an ongoing effort by Brookings CORE Response and other local agencies to see this partnership and support at the local government level so that, when state and federal agencies provide the opportunity and resources during a disaster, we can benefit from that at the local level.
