Low Income Housing

Introducing A Transformational Grant for Veterans Housing in Curry County

We are excited to share the news that Brookings CORE Response has been awarded a generous grant of $3.2 million by Oregon Housing & Community Services. This grant will provide much-needed support to our veterans here in Curry County. Groundbreaking is set for early 2024, so stay tuned for more updates. We are thankful of our project partner, AB Innovations LLC, Curry County based affordable housing Developer and General Contractor. We also wish to thank the agencies and individuals that offered support for this project and continue to do so: City of Gold Beach, Tolowa Dee-Ni’ Nation, Coos-Curry Housing Authority, Rural Oregon Continuum of Care, Rural Roots Collaborative, Fair Housing Council of Oregon, as well as our many other community partners!

Our project, located in Gold Beach, Oregon, is set to transform a local motel into 18 affordable housing units for veterans. But our commitment doesn’t stop at providing shelter. Alongside these housing units, we will be building a community center and offering on-site services, including long-term case management, to ensure that our veterans receive the comprehensive support they need. We will also partner with Coos-Curry Housing Authority and Veterans Affairs to provide vouchers for these households, further reducing their expenses and investing in a sustainable community resource.

This grant is just the first of many low income housing opportunities that we hope to bring to Curry County! Read OHCS’s newsletter announcement below or visit their website to read more about this project and others around the state.
